This was called the Teatro Marmoreo, built in 1861, on a plan by Paolo Amato. In the summer, musicians paid by Palermo nobles of the Senate played to entertain the citizens during the passeggiata (“walk”) to the marina. The stage was demolished in 1827 and replaced in 1846 by the existing one, designed by Domencio Lo Faso and Carlo Giachery. AC, 571.
