{ Chapter Sixteen }
Quaranta Martiri
Built in 1294; the Holy Forty Martyrs were a group of soldiers belonging to a Roman legion, who, in 320 AD were arrested for being Christians. Given the choice of apostatizing or suffering death, they remained firm in their faith. They were condemned to be exposed naked to the winter cold and died from frostbite in the city of Sebasta in Armenia.
